Usage

Yes, as long as the previous hair dye product did not contain metals or henna powder. If your current hair dye contains lead, acetate, zinc, iron or copper please wait at least one month before applying Tints of Nature.

We would love to say yes they will, but all hair conditions are very different and so results will vary from head to head.

For best results, make sure you follow our colour guide and pick the best shade for you. And of course, do a strand test for a true indication of the colour result. Don’t forget, hair dye loves healthy hair! Read our blog on how to achieve happy healthy hair using our treatment range.

If you are still unsure, please contact our Customer Care team.

First up, congratulations on your pregnancy!

We recommend waiting until after the first 12 weeks of pregnancy before applying any dye or to consult your doctor beforehand.

The Henna Cream shades are better alternatives to use whilst pregnant. Alternatively, highlighting your hair or not directly applying dye to your scalp can reduce any possible risks or reactions.

Please note: any chemicals used are only absorbed by your hair and not by your scalp or bloodstream. Always remember your sensitivity test to ensure you are not allergic to any of the ingredients used, including the lovely natural ones!

Yes and no. If left unmixed and in their original bottles, the Colour Gel and Colourfix can last up to 6 months from the opening date. However, if the Colour Gel and Colourfix are mixed, the solution will only last for one hour due to the oxidisation process.

Please be aware we recommend storing the left-over bottles in a dry place out of direct sunlight.

Even though Tints of Nature is a non-toxic hair colour, we do not recommend using our home hair dyes if you are undergoing chemotherapy, radiotherapy or other forms of health treatment. If you do wish to dye your hair with our home hair dye, please consult with your doctor before applying and ALWAYS carry out a skin sensitivity test.

Finished treatment?
Again, consult with your doctor beforehand. If your scalp is irritated or damaged or your hair is very weak or brittle we advise not to dye your hair. If you wish to dye your hair we would recommend using our Henna Cream semi-permanent hair colour for a few months, so your hair has time to rebuild its natural strength and health.

Please ALWAYS remember your skin sensitivity and strand test. Instructions can be found under Top Tips.

Straight away! Although we recommend using the Structure Treatment to help prevent damage and
prep the hair for colouring.

If you follow the instructions, it should not damage the hair.

We recommend dyeing onto towel-dried hair after using the Charcoal Pre-Colour Shampoo. However, this is down to personal preference. Some people find they have better coverage when applying the dye onto dry hair.

An allergic reaction can develop at any time, even to the most natural ingredients, so please perform a skin test prior to every colour application.

If you're unsure of your colour selection, you can perform a strand test, where you mix up a small amount of colour and apply it to a section of hair.

The strand test should be done under the same conditions you will be dyeing the hair under - dry or damp.

We recommend applying to towel dried hair, but some people get great results when applying to dry hair.

Colour Selection & Tips

Tints of Nature permanent hair colours are capable of achieving up to 100% grey coverage. All of the natural shades 1N - 8N can cover 100% of grey hair.

If you’re using one of the fashion shades you just need to mix it with the same amount of the natural shade with the same number.

For example: 25ml 7D + 25ml 7N + 50ml Colourfix = a fabulous golden fashion colour capable of covering grey.

The only shade that may not completely cover grey is 10N.

If you are not happy with the final result, please get in touch with us using the Contact Us page for expert advice from our team.

Tints of Nature Bold Colours can be mixed to create different shades. However, we would always recommend you to perform a strand test prior to every application as this will give you the best indication of how the colour will appear on the hair, and you can then make an informed decision as to whether you wish to proceed with the full application.

The Bold Colours are not designed to be mixed with the permanent or Henna Cream ranges.

Provided the hair has not been lightened recently, the hair can be immediately lightened, treated and the Bold Colour re-applied. However, if hair has been recently lightened then a professional should be consulted to determine whether the hair is fit for lightening.

The Bold Colours are tonal.

To ensure vibrant, colourful results, if you have darker hair, we would recommend you to pre-lighten your hair to a light blonde with the Lightener Kit. The Bold Colours can be used on hair which has not been pre-lightened but results would not be vibrant unless you have naturally light, bright blonde hair.

Leaving the colour on the hair for 40 minutes and pre-treating with Hydrate Treatment will help achieve the best results. Pastel colours would also be difficult to achieve unless the hair is pre-lightened or applied to naturally light bright blonde hair.

Any colour with a depth of C has a cool ashy tone, so will counteract red.

Yes, the shades can be mixed to create a custom shade. It also can work as a conditioning treatment for the hair.
